Inspirational spoons

I found this pair of Tsimshian spoons tucked away in a corner of the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford.

The carving on the handles is amazing, it's almost sci-fi in design reminding me a little of HR Gigers bio-mechanical art. Looking at it closely though, you can see the traditional animal forms that seem to inspire most native american indian art.
